Bounty harvest

A mammoth taro was harvested yesterday in Mt Ambra in the Hagen central district by Anis Koldpi from the Moge Kiminga tribe. Mr Koldpi fronted up at the Post-Courier Mt Hagen office with the taro and said the harvest was an extraordinary one compared to his previous harvests. He said the taro was rare because it was so huge and it had more than 30 heads to it. Pictured is Mr Tengen (left) and taro farmer Anis Koldpi( right) with Molina Anis (middle) showing the taro.

He said a lot of taros were harvested and sold but the big one was left alone because he planned to give it to the former Mt Hagen city lord mayor Joseph Tengen. The tuber weighed about ten kilograms.
